In BHEL spent more than 25 years as designer / engineer of Turbogenerators 15 to 500 MW. Was Head of Turbogenerators Design Department for several years. Extensive field experience with regard to 50 to 500 MW size generators. Widely traveled all over India, with long stays at power stations. Special field experience during 1984 – 89 years, when almost 40 gnerators rated 210 MW, type THW-210 were modified to overcome vibration problems with their stator windings.
Lead the team to design 80 MW air-cooled generator type TARI for TATA Electric Trombay unit 7. Dept of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Govt. of India gave national award for this design for the year 1993 – 94. The award was received by Shree Aron from Hon. Minister for Science and Technology at Ashoka Hotel, New Delhi in November 1994. Was member of National Inquiry Committee related to a major fire incident at Narora Atomic Power Station in March 1994. Worked as Senior Manger in manufacturing production and technology areas covering all aspects of generators’ manufacture. Prior to BHEL, was Chief Electrical Inspection and testing engineer with M/S Lummus (International) at Bareilly, U.P. During 1979–81 was on deputation to Electrical Construction Co. Tripoli, Libya as Generators’ specialist and erected & commissioned diesel gen-sets in Libya. Last assignment with BHEL was as General Manager (Engineering) responsible for all the products made at BHEL Hardwar namely, Turbogenerators, Steam and Gas turbines, Electrical Motors, Heat exchangers, Hydro-Turbines & Generators, Controls, Computer center of BHEL etc. Had extensive training in the field of Turbogenerators design in ‘USSR’ and had been to Russia and other countries abroad on business visits. Fluent in Russian, also know German (G-2) and little Arabic. Papers: Held Patent related to design of Turbogenerators stator core. Author of several papers related to Turbogenerators. Notable being on design of 80 MW air-cooled generator in ‘BHEL JOURNAL’ ‘95. Presented a guest paper on ‘TG Systems’ at National Systems Conference 1999 in IT- BHU on invitation and at IIT Roorkee on ‘Generators’ at a seminar in 2005. Also chaired a session at IIT Roorkee seminar ‘Computer applications in Electrical Machines’ in 2005 Hobbies: Palmistry, Swimming, Roses, Traveling, Photography and listening to Euro classical. Present: Organizing interactive workshops on Generators all over India and giving technical consultations. Workshops held for NTPC: Unchahar, Talcher(Twice), Farakka, Simhadri, Badarpur, Ramagundam(Thrice); Rihand (Twice), Singrauli (twice), Vindhyanagar (thrice), Tanda, Auraiya, Dadri and Kayamkulam, NTPC-SAIL: Rourkela, Bhillai & Durgapur, AECO-Ahmedabad, TATA at Trombay (thrice); NPC: RAPS Kota (thrice), KAPS Kakrapar (twice), TAPS Tarapur (thrice), NAPS Narora (twice), KAIGA (Twice), MAPS Kalpakkam, NLC Neyvali, NCTPS-TNEB Chennai, Reliance Energy (thrice), MSEB Koradi (twice) Nasik and Bhusawal, UPSEB Obra, GEB-Wanakbori (twice), APGenCorp–Vijaywada (twice), NALCO-Orissa; IB-Valley-OPGCL, PSEB, ABB Ltd., Renusagar Power (twice) NTPC-PMI & IOC Panipat & BPCL. Present Assignments: BHEL Hardwar in Aug–Sept 2000 related to design audit and failure analyses. Consultancy visits to Reliance-Dahanu (twice), Bhusawal TPS (Thrice), MSEB-Chandrapur (thrice), GMR Energy, Jindal Power, TATA Power-Trombay (thrice), GEB-Wanakbori, NPCIL-RAPS Kota etc. Reports made for NPCIL – KAPS, for BSES-Dahanu, Alstom. One such visit helped to save MSEB Bhusawal millions of Rupees by advice rendered related to stator repair of a THW-210 MW TG during early 2003 and another visit to TATA Power saved their imported rotor preventing loss of almost 7 months generation of 200 MW power. A technical project related to 500 MW generator problems was executed for Loy Yang Power Co. Australia in February 2002. MahaGenCo (MSEB HQ) Chandrapur gave silver shield + shawl as award for outstanding contribution towards repair of their U-7 500 MW generator in Jan. 2007. Also Managing Partner of ‘Eron Services’ – an Ex BHEL Enterprise in power equipment services.
